Grangeville Idaho Commercial Renaissance

Posted by marymangold on December 2, 2007

Not long ago, a windstorm ripped through the Inland Northwest, causing havoc.  In Grangeville, the Sunset Autovue, one of America’s last remaining outdoor movie theatres, lost 3/4 of the movie screen.  An upscale home furnishings business on Main Street, Lindsley’s Home furnishings, experienced the shatter of glass when one of its awnings blew off and stabbed through the front display window.  Numerous other stories of lost roofs and massive fallen trees are easy to hear around town.

Amid the coming of winter weather, the rising oil prices, lack of work ethics, political and religious unrest around the world, Grangeville Idaho is experiencing some positive economic trends.    Commercial buildings and properties are selling and leased office and retail spaces are reaching almost 100% occupancy.  Is it a Main Street Renaissance?  Maybe?
